Strange Headlines: From Tyler Perry Allegations to Fraudulent Marriage Certificates
Strange headlines dominate today's roundup as we dive into some truly bizarre news stories that seem almost too outlandish to be true.
The most mind-boggling tale involves a Texas woman who allegedly managed to legally marry her ex-fiancé without his knowledge after they broke up. This peculiar case unfolded when Kristen Marie Spearman reportedly convinced a pastor to certify their marriage despite the groom's absence, filed the paperwork with county officials, and then mailed the certificate to her stunned ex in a Bath & Body Works gift bag. As the Beverly Hills Police Chief remarked, in 23 years of service, he'd never encountered someone getting married to a person who wasn't even present for their own wedding ceremony.
We also examine serious allegations against filmmaker Tyler Perry, who faces a lawsuit from actor Derek Dixon claiming sexual assault and harassment. Dixon alleges Perry made unwanted advances during visits to his residence and claims he feared rejecting Perry outright would damage his acting career. The story raises important questions about power dynamics in the entertainment industry.
Finally, we briefly touch on California Governor Gavin Newsom launching a Substack newsletter supposedly to fight "disinformation," noting how the platform has become something of a refuge for media personalities and public figures whose traditional influence may be waning.
What would you do if you discovered you were legally married to someone without your knowledge? Or if you had $500 for a shopping spree, where would you spend it? Join the conversation and share your thoughts on these strange but true stories that remind us reality can indeed be stranger than fiction.

Well, hello, good morning, happy Wednesday. Here we go with a couple of stories for you this morning. First, though, let me talk about a couple of things that Mr Sean shared with me. I'm taking he wanted me to share this on the podcast. Wheeling has flooded for the second time in as many weeks, leaving residents to pick up the pieces. State lawmakers refused to fund the West Virginia Flood Resiliency Trust Fund after unanimously approving its creation in 2023. That, what? That doesn't make any sense. They approved it but then refused to fund it, and Mr Sean's the link provided there. It will not allow me to open it. It gives me an error, so I can't go read any more further into it. But the other thing that he shared with me, mr Sean shared with me Tyler Perry sued for a sexual assault, harassment, by the oval actor. Now I'm going to be up front with you.
Speaker 1:I have never followed anything by Tyler Perry. I just thought he was overhyped. I didn't. From what I've seen, what I have seen of some of what I some of the previews, you know, I've seen clips of his stuff and everything I just didn't think it was all that funny. I just never got into Tyler Perry, so I really don't have any idea who the I don't know what theval is. I don't know what this, this, uh, derek Dixon is. I don't know who he is, but, of course and I don't know Tyler Perry was really big there for a while and then he kind of just disappeared, right. Maybe, or maybe he's just working behind the scenes, I don't know. It seemed like for a while there for a couple of years, everybody's talking about tyler perry, tyler perry, tyler perry, and then, all of a sudden, you just don't hear anything from him.
Speaker 1:Anyway, tyler perry is reportedly being sued by the oval actor, derrick dixon, who is accusing the hollywood mogul of alleged sexual assault and years of harassment. Dixon, an actor who plays dale on perry's long running tv show, the oval, claims he was at in an event in 2019 when the Hollywood picked him up. When the Hollywood, when the Hollywood picked him out of the crowd and asked for his phone number, implying he may have a role for him. According to the lawsuit, the actor noted that Perry did, in fact, have a role for him, as he went on to appear in two episodes of the television series Ruthless Okay, blah, blah, blah. While at Perry's residence, however, dixon drank too much and ended up going to sleep in a guest room, at which point the Hollywood mogul climbed into bed with him and began touching his thighs. The lawsuit alleges dixon claims that he rejected perry all night, but that the director persisted. So when was this? In 2020, um, wow. Due to fear of derailing his budding acting career as a result of outright rejecting Perry, dixon said he told the director he wasn't the sexual type and never complained about sexual harassment, thinking he would lose his job. The complaint states Wow, these people. The lawsuit goes on to accuse Perry of again again inviting dixon to it as atlanta home in 2020, to which the actor obliged, and then asking him if he likes it. Oh, no, oh, if he likes it. Rough in bed, before grabbing dixon by the throat, adding look how excited you just got. Oh, my gosh, I'm not going to read any more of that. You can go read it if you want. Uh, so wow, that was from laura connor, uh, but mr sean's retweeted it for him, tagged me in it. So there you go. If you know, if you love tyler perry, you might want to start investigating some of these things, all right.
Speaker 1:Moving on, texas mom discovers ex-fiancee married him without his knowledge after finding package at home days after his breakup. Get this. This couple was apparently engaged. They even both went to the courthouse together to apply for a marriage license and then, like a day later, the guy's like no, I don't want to marry you anymore, bye, I'm breaking up with you. What? But she goes ahead and talks the priest or pastor or whatever, convinces him to certify the marriage certificate without the guy being there. What the hell is going on here? A 42-year-old Texas man discovered he was married to his ex-fiance without his knowledge when the marriage certificate arrived at his home just days after the pair broke up. Just days after the pair broke up and she does look like a crazy bitch.
Speaker 1:Kristen Marie Spearman, 36, is accused of sending her ex a gift bag from Bath and Body Works. What that contains some products, products is in parentheses, why and a copy of an officiated marriage license with their names on June 13th. This is a crazy story. Spearman allegedly also included a photo of herself holding up the document that legally recognized their relationship. Why would you do this? The spooked victim, who was not being named by authorities, admitted that the pair was in a relationship around june 2nd and when they went to the county clerk's office to receive a marriage license. Both parties must appear in person and have valid identification to receive an application for a marriage license.
Speaker 1:According to mclennan county's website, spearmint and her ex-fiancee never made it to the altar. However, the pair got into an argument when the victim allegedly claimed he didn't want to be in a relationship with her anymore. So this was we're very quick, they go and get the application together and then days later he's like no, never mind, I'm going to break up with you. Oh, maybe he realized how crazy she was. So Spearman seemingly had other plans for their future.
Speaker 1:Beverly Hills Police Chief Corey Martin claimed Spearman went behind the victim's back and convinced a pastor to certify a marriage, even though the man wasn't in attendance or even aware of the ceremony. I don't think in 20 years 23 years I've ever heard of anybody who managed somehow to get married to someone who wasn't present for a ceremony, the chief said. After the reverend signed off on the fraudulent wedding, spearman took a certified marriage license to her local county clerk's office, filed a certificate with officials. The stunned victim learned about the marriage filing days after he dumped her. Wow, I don't know what the outcome of that's going to be. I guess they have to. I don't know, that's so weird. Wow, I don't even know what to say. All right, I don't know, that's so weird. Wow, I don't even know what to say. All right.
Speaker 1:So Gavin Newsom launches Substack to fight disinformation. I wrote a blog post for the Victor Girls when Terry Moran was fired from CNN, and he's now started a Substack making fun of him, because that's where all of the so-called journalists go when they're either fired let go, uh, are not wanted anymore. Their ratings are low. They go to Substack, and you know, to fight disinformation, whatever. Uh, it's where you go because your career has failed. Okay, but doesn't Gavin Newsom have a podcast? Why does he also need a Substack? Why is everybody going to Substack?
Speaker 1:I created a sub stack, but not I'm not a journalist. I did it because I wanted a little more, uh, creative outlet for my fiction writing. Uh, but I may you know what? I may delete it because I don't know that I want to go that route. It's called sincerely suge. It's just for fun, um, fun stuff. I may delete it. I kind of like the name Sincerely Shug though, but I may delete it because I don't know that I want to put my fiction writing out there just yet, because I'm still working on it and stuff. So I may delete that and not do anything with it, because it's just another avenue that I have to take care of and it'll be a distraction because I want to keep my fiction writing separate and private for now. So I may delete that, all right.
Speaker 1:Um, I guess that's all I've got for you. I guess we need a question of the day. Okay, if you could go on a shopping spree with, let's say, five hundred dollars, where would you go and what would you buy? I think I'd buy gun, another gun. Oh, should I've said that out loud? Uh, okay, that's all I've got for now. Thanks for listening. Love y'all. Have a good one bye.
