Trust Betrayed: Stories That Make You Question Everything
Have you ever forgotten everything about a show you loved? Remembered exactly who a controversial judge was the moment their name appeared in the news again? Or felt your heart drop when trusted expectations were shattered?
The weekend roundup kicks off with reflections on a Labor Day getaway to Tunica before diving into an unexpected Broadchurch binge-watch that revealed how completely we can forget even the most engaging stories. This segues into a deeper, more troubling revelation about Judge James Boasberg, who recently released a woman arrested for making explicit threats against former President Trump - overruling another judge's decision to deny bond. The contradiction between how such threats are handled raises serious questions about consistency in our justice system.
Sports fans will appreciate the breakdown of Bill Belichick's disastrous UNC coaching debut, ending in a humiliating 48-14 loss that has many wondering if the 73-year-old NFL legend should consider retirement rather than rebuilding a struggling college program. But perhaps most heart-wrenching is the story of a mother who returned to pick up her daughter from a birthday party, only to discover the host had departed 90 minutes early, leaving her child alone at a roller rink without food or celebration. It's a stark reminder of how quickly trust between parents can be broken.
The episode wraps with a touching personal moment - a rare FaceTime call from an adult daughter and plans to create new family traditions at a local water park. What was the highlight of your weekend? Share your stories and join the conversation about trust, justice, and finding joy in small family connections.

Wow, what a long, fun-filled weekend we had.
Speaker 1:Now you can catch up on everything we did on the Brood Awakening podcast that the Gent and I do and it's called Brood Awakening. We kind of run it down on Sunday. Everything we did. It was a three-day weekend, Labor Day weekend. So we took off and went to Tunica man, it was just packed and it was great. Yesterday we got home early. We left Tunica about 7 o'clock in the morning, got home before noon so we still had out and I remember thinking it was good, probably one of the first shows like that on a streaming system, that I watched, one of the first ones, and I remember thinking this is great, you know, you could watch one back to back to back.
Speaker 1:You know, well, what did I? I watched the whole first season yesterday and again. Well, here's the thing I don't remember anything about it. I mean, I remember it was a detective crime show. I remember the characters, the main characters anyway, and I wanted to watch it mainly because of Olivia Colman. I'm on an Olivia Colman kick these days. You know she played two seasons of the Queen, elizabeth in the Crown, but, and then I watched another movie too of hers called Empire of Light. It was a little strange, but good.
Speaker 1:Anyway, I watched Broad Street and it was amazing how I know I watched this years ago when it first came out, and watching it again, I don't. I didn't remember anything about it. I couldn't remember who the killer was till the very last episode. I'm like what the hell? How do you watch a whole series and forget everything about it? It was good, though. That's the problem. That's the thing that puzzles me. It was good. Why didn't I remember it? I don't know what's wrong with me. All right, I'm sorry I'm rambling. We need to move on to my stories, not my stories, the New York Post stories that I put out on X. All right, do you remember I talked about a few episodes back about this New York City woman? She was busted for threatening to kill President Trump, quietly released by Obama-appointed judge. You remember me talking about this Judge, jeanine Pirro said they were throwing the book at her, blah, blah, blah, and you'll remember it as soon as I start talking about it.
Speaker 1:A New York City woman locked up for making deranged social media posts threatening to kill President Trump, was quietly released by an Obama-appointed judge last week, and you're going to recognize this name. Are you ready for it? Chief US District Judge James Boasberg Hello Released Natalie Rose Jones, a 50-year-old Big Apple resident, under electronic monitoring on August 27th and ordered she see a psychiatrist once back home. What the F? Is actually happening? This needs to be all over national news. Please let this be all over national news today. This is asinine. I cannot believe this even happened. Well, yeah, I can't, because it's Boasberg. The surprise release comes just days after US Magistrate Judge Moxilla Upadaya denied Jones' bond over the persistent threats on Trump's life she issued over social media. So one judge said no, you're not getting out. Boasberg overruled it and said yes, let her go. What in tarnation? Here's where we are.
Speaker 1:Jones wrote in a long facebook post on august 6th I literally this is what she said her words, not mine. I literally told fbi in five states today that I am willing to sacrificially kill this potus by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea, with liz cheney and all the affirmation present. She allegedly wrote, ending the paragraph let's deal with this and restore domestic tranquility. She is a nut job. Yeah, sure, she needs to see a psychiatrist, but she can do it while she's behind bars. Oh God, she does not need to be out walking the streets. She does not need to go back to a job. No, sir, mr boesberg.
Speaker 1:In other posts, jones urged defense secretary pete. Okay, we know about what she, what, all she did, but can you believe this? Friends of jones told judge boesberg, appointed by obama in 2011, that she has a history of schizophrenia. Get help, she can do that behind bars. What she did was a federal offense, I believe. Yes, threatening the president of the United States. I don't care who was president at the time. I don't care if Obama was president. This bitch needs to be behind bars. I don't care. You don't go around saying that kind of crap. Oh, okay, so you can go finish reading that. I'm just perturbed at this Boesberg judge. Can you believe that? What in the world?
Speaker 1:All right, moving on to Bill Belichick's big UNC debut did not go well last night. Now, I did not watch it. My husband watched it. I was watching Broadchurch, but here it is in the New York Post. I read about it. I knew he was playing last night because my husband told me this was his debut and I thought, oh boy, whatever, you know, he's running around with that 24-year-old gold digger who's now creating jewelry called gold digger. What is wrong with people, but I guess he had a lot of celebrities there. A lot of big name sports people were there, athletes, prior athletes, and it did not go well for Mr Bill Belichick. He's 70 something years old, 73 I think he might. It might be time to hang it up. What in the world? Now let me tell you something this little Jordan Hudson person girlfriend that he has on his arm, she is not going to be with him long. Maybe She'll probably take his money and run once he gets fired from UNC.
Speaker 1:North Carolina's high point moment in its first game under coach Bill Belichick came early. Ha ha, I'm sure it's more like they're not talking about his bedroom antics. A festive pregame atmosphere led to a roar from the crowd at kickoff and a season opening drive moved at a crisp pace to the end zone After that. Well, monday night's hyped up debut turned into a romp by TCU, along with a reminder that even an NFL icon with six Super Bowl titles as a head coach can't just magically turn the Tar Heels into winners. After decades of also ran status, I don't know what that means. Also ran status what does that mean? We played competitively but just couldn't sustain it, it Belichick said in a familiar low tone from his NFL news conferences after the 48-14 loss 48-14 y'all. Obviously we have a lot of work to do. Yeah, where have you been? We need to do a better job all the way around coaching, playing all three phases of the game. And then he talked about how it was great environment tonight, belichick said I mean, the fans were awesome. There was great energy in the stadium. We just didn't have enough to keep it going. We've got to play better for the energy to be sustainable. Yeah, no kidding, your fans are not going to carry the ball for you across the goal line. So what do you think about Bill Belichick and UNC?
Speaker 1:If you follow that kind of thing, you can go finish reading that story. It's long and drawn out if you want to go read it. My next to last story, though this is interesting and let's see if I can get into a question of the day. I may or may not be able to. I don't know. Get into a question of the day. I may or may not be able to, I don't know. So mom makes a heartbreaking discovery after picking up daughter from party. I feel like the worst mom ever. I don't know how to feel about this. I feel very pissed off at the other parent in this story. Okay, let's read it Basically.
Speaker 1:The little girl was invited to the party. She asked if she could drop her off at the party and go run an errand and then come back and pick her up. And they said, yeah, that's fine. So the party invitation said it ended at five o'clock. So she was there at 4 30 to pick up her daughter a whole half hour early. Well, guess what? The birthday party was gone, the parent who organized the party gone. Let's get into it.
Speaker 1:Lauren dropped her daughter off at a birthday party thinking she'd have the time of her life. Only, when she returned she found a heartbreaking opposite. I literally feel like the worst mom ever she shared. I took my daughter to a birthday party and I asked them is it okay if I just do a drop-off and run an errand and I'll be back? And she said absolutely, you can definitely leave them here.
Speaker 1:The mother checked the end of the party. The party parent said they would be finished at 5 pm. So Lauren left her daughter to enjoy the party at the roller rink and returned at 4 30 to pick her up. Nobody was there. My daughter was alone. Oh my god, I would be so freaking pissed off at this parent.
Speaker 1:The party room, I don't know that I would love left. I don't know how old this child is, I don't know that I would have left her there. But not knowing who these people are, maybe, maybe, I don't know. I don't know the whole circumstances but the party room had been locked, the whole circumstances. But the party room had been locked, the lights turned off and the party mother had vanished. She asked her daughter where everybody was. She said everybody had left. I was like what do you mean? Everybody had left. She said they're gone and my baby was there alone. The mother explained I trusted this other mom. The young girl was lucky enough that there had been a friend there who wasn't associated with the party and it just so happened that she'd been there at the right place at the right time. No kidding.
Speaker 1:Lauren decided to try and find some answers. I don't know how old this girl is. They have pictures of her, so I'd say about eight. Maybe the party, let's see. I called this mom eight times and she did not answer my phone call. She didn't answer my text message or anything. So I talked to the manager and I said what time did they leave? And they said they left an hour.
Speaker 1:Before that she recounted, the party parent had left an hour and a half earlier than she had told Lauren. Wow. I asked Ashton. I said did you eat? She said she said no, because she didn't announce the for food and they didn't announce for cake and they did not announce for presents.
Speaker 1:What it's left Lauren feeling shocked and betrayed. Morning reports delivered. Okay, um. Now I feel like the worst mom ever because I trusted this woman. I understand I'd be mad too and I'd be mad at myself and I'd be mad at the other mother. So she said dropping off kids at a birthday party is completely normal. Leaving before all the kids at the birthday party have been picked up is insane. No kidding, it is. I know parents that have dropped off kids before and didn't stay. Come on, it was at a skating rink. You think you're going to be safe? What do you think about that? What's your story on that one? All right, so I guess I will do a different kind of question of the day, and that is okay.
Speaker 1:Tell me the highlight of your weekend, mine, after all of that, after all that was said, I'm going to tell you what the highlight of mine was. My grown daughter FaceTimed me. She and some girlfriends went to a water park here that's pretty local. They had a girls day out. So she called me from the water park just to check in and say hi, she FaceTimed me. She never calls me. She'll text me but she'll hardly ever calls. But she FaceTimed me.
Speaker 1:I guess too she wanted to show me the park and everything on FaceTime. But she said we all need to go out there as a family and start a tradition with Cameron starting next year, because you know it was Labor Day weekend, so it was the last weekend for the water park to be open this year. So next year we're all going to start a tradition and go out there to this water park and take Cameron with us, with my son and his wife, my daughter and her husband and the gent and I and little grand cam. We're going to start doing that. That was. The highlight for me was getting the FaceTime phone call from my daughter. Okay, I gotta go. Thanks for listening. Love y'all, bye.
