Insurance Drones, Cowboys' Failures, and Monastery Threats: Today's Overlooked Stories

Carol Marks

TALK TO ME, TEXT IT

What's happening beneath the surface of today's headlines? From unexpected privacy invasions to dormant sports dynasties and disturbing religious threats, this episode peels back layers on stories that deserve more attention than they're getting.

We dive into the unsettling case of a Massachusetts homeowner who discovered her insurance company was conducting drone surveillance of her property without consent. The company used aerial footage to demand tree limb removal under threat of policy cancellation after a decade-long relationship. This raises profound questions about how technology is redrawing privacy boundaries in America. Would you be comfortable with your insurer flying drones over your home? Many listeners have expressed outrage at this practice, while others wonder about its legality.

The conversation shifts to Troy Aikman's candid assessment of Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys' 30-year Super Bowl drought. The Hall of Fame quarterback questions whether generating headlines and drama has superseded on-field success for America's most valuable sports franchise. With just four playoff victories in three decades and the recent trading of star player Micah Parsons, Cowboys fans are left wondering if championship aspirations remain the priority.

Most disturbing is our examination of an armed threat against a California Catholic monastery. An Alabama man drove across the country with brass knuckles, knives, high-capacity magazines, and body armor after making threats against St. Michael's Abbey. This incident follows other attacks on religious institutions nationwide, highlighting a dangerous pattern targeting faith communities.

Speaker 1:

Oh hello, good morning. I am in a mood right now. Okay, I'm going to get over it, though I'm going to get over it because it's nothing major and I need to have an attitude check. All right, let's get on with the stories of the day that you're not going to hear anywhere else. So this furious homeowner says her insurance company flew a drone over her house and refused to renewal for one minor reason. Can you guess what it is? I bet you can. Let's see. When Lynn Shuler looked up at the branches of a beloved tree in her Massachusetts yard, she never expected that a drone might be looking down at her. Well, you better get used to it.

Speaker 1:

Shuler, who had held a policy with the same insurer for more than a decade, was shocked to receive an email containing an aerial photo of her home and warning that she had six weeks to cut back limbs hanging over her roof or lose the coverage. So they gave her an option. They didn't just cancel it, they said cut them back or lose the policy. Still, man, that's kind of like Snoopy Snoop, isn't it Snooping on somebody? Kind of a private invasion of privacy, don't you think? She says it was very invasive because they had taken a picture of my house without me knowing, which was really kind of crazy. Well, I don't know how I feel about I mean, I don't think that should happen, but you know how are you going to stop people from doing that. And it is the you know the insurance company. I don't know that should happen, but you know how are you going to stop people from doing that. And it is the insurance. You know the insurance company. I don't know. What do you think? I need some, I need your, I need your thoughts on that. Let me know. But that is not the question of the day. How would you feel if your homeowner, owner assurance came and took a picture of your house with a drone, without knowledge? I mean, I don't even know if that's against the law. So if it's not against the law, you know, I don't know. I need your thoughts. I don't think I would like it.

Speaker 1:

All right, troy Aikman sounds alarm on Jerry Jones, a sad Cowboys reality. You know I haven't thought about the Cowboys in forever and obviously here's the reason why. First of all, I'm not a sports person. Okay, all right, troy Aikman isn't sure, I didn't even know Jerry Jones was still alive or still even owned the Cowboys. But this sheds some light on why you haven't seen anything from the Cowboys in a very long time. I did not even know they weren't even in the Super Bowl for 30 years. That's a long time. I remember back in the day they were pretty good. All right, troy Eggman isn't so sure.

Speaker 1:

Winning is the priority in Dallas. The Hall of Fame Cowboys quarterback and current Monday Night Football analyst questioned how owner Jerry Jones is running the team during an appearance on the Rich is running the team during an appearance on the Rich Eason show. Rich Eason, rich Eason, I don't know. On Tuesday I saw Jerry talk about the fact that having the Cowboys as a discussion point is meaningful to him and if people aren't talking about the Cowboys then he'll do the things to stir it up. So he kind of walked into that and has given the impression that this supersedes winning. Well, they're not talking about it because they're not winning anything.

Speaker 1:

Jerry Aikman posited that the franchise's lack of post-season success may have pushed Jones to chase headlines rather than focus on putting a winning production on the field. What headlines is he chasing? I don't know. I haven't heard anything from them. In some ways, I'm sure Jerry and the Jones family and everyone is tired of the fact that they haven't had to. They haven't been to a championship game, let alone a Super Bowl, in 30 years God, that's more than I've been alive Well, almost Almost Half of my life. Okay, let's see. So when you deflects, all right. So when you deflect that, so when oh my gosh, I can't read, so then when you deflect that, then essentially the valuation of your franchise, of the attention and the exposure, or the drama, or, as jerry said, the fact that the cowboys are a soap opera 365 days a year, then that then becomes the scoreboard instead of what Do I think that winning is not important to Jerry Jones? Not at all. I think Jerry wants, with more than anything else, and I think he's very exhausted of the fact that this team, although they've won a lot of regular season games, they've only won four playoff games. That's hard to stomach. Well, yeah, you might, I don't know. So Aikman's comments came less than a week after the Cowboys shockingly traded superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Packers in exchange for two first round picks and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

Speaker 1:

I don't know who any of these people are, so you can go finish reading that. What do you think? What do you think If you're an NFL person following football? What do you think about the Cowboys and Jerry Jones? I, like I said, didn't know the man was still alive, didn't know he still owned it Okay, but I don't follow football. So moving on.

Speaker 1:

Oh, y'all this is terrifying right here. Look, you've heard about, you know, you know about the enunciation shooter. The trans shooter shot up the church while kids were in mass at a school, killed two children, and we've always heard about anti-Catholic, this anti-Catholic, that. Well, here's another one, and this guy's from alabama, y'all, but he drove across the across america to drive to california. All right, let me read the story. Wow, man drove across country with weapons, made threats after targeting catholic monastery. Officials say we have catholic churches here, not that I want him to. Why did he have to drive across the country? Why was this particular one targeted? It doesn't tell us in the story, though.

Speaker 1:

The Orange County Sheriff's Department arrested an Alabama man who deputies said showed up armed with brass knuckles, knives, high-capacity magazines and a body armor after allegedly making threats against Catholic Monastery in California. The Orange County Sheriff's Department said deputies detained Joshua Michael Richardson late last month following reports of threatening emails he sent to St Michael's Abbey. Investigators said the emails reported on August 28th contained language interpreted as threatening. Well, I guess. So the situation escalated with. Oh my gosh, slow down, carol. The situation escalated with.

Speaker 1:

Investigators said Richardson drove from Alabama to Southern California and showed up in person. Okay, how many times do they have to re-say this? Do they need a word count or something? They just re-say the same things in different paragraphs. Give me the meat of the story for crying out loud.

Speaker 1:

A priest who encountered Richardson notified the sheriff's department two days later, triggering a swift investigation. I don't understand this. This is not. I don't understand this. I do not understand this. The guy sent emails that he drove across country. The guy sent emails that he drove across country. A priest encountered him. Notify the sheriff's two days later. What? How come? I don't. What do you mean? He encountered Richardson. Give me more information on that, please.

Speaker 1:

Sergeant Gerald McCann told the Orange County Register that it is believed Richardson made the drive from Alabama and arrived in California the same day. He went to the Abbey. You've already said this three times. I can't stand these people who write these things. Deputies said they quickly located and detained Richardson. How did they locate him. See, tell me that. Where was he staying? What happened? A search of the vehicle uncovered weapons and tactical gear, including large capacity magazines, body armor, knives and brass knuckles. You've already told me that I can't stand these writers who do this, who just say the same thing over and over again, like kind of what I'm doing right now. Okay, he was taken into custody without an incident and booked into the Orange County Jail. Now, on September 1st, the Orange County District Attorney's Office formally charged Richardson with several offenses, including possession of brass knuckles, carrying a concealed dagger, possession of a large. Okay, I can't.

Speaker 1:

In a statement provided to Fox News, digital Gonzalez, a spokesperson for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, of Orange, of Orange County, maybe confirm the incident and thank local law. Okay, tell me more. I need more about this. The diocese has taken this incident seriously in light of rising threats against churches nationwide, pointing to the recent shooting at Annunciation Church. Yep, the Sheriff's Department has increased patrols near the monastery. Oh, they have a picture of everything from this guy's car. Holy crap, it's a lot, golly. Okay, it really didn't tell us anything, did it? Not a damn thing. Oh, I need more details and more information, please. People are late. I don't know. All right. So the next up is Joy Reid. Oh my gosh, she is still on this thing that Trump didn't get shot. I feel a video coming off from my YouTube channel on this one. I can't stand this woman. She's crazy. She's mentally deranged.

Speaker 1:

Ex-msnbc host Joy Reid said Tuesday that the public knows nothing about President Donald Trump's injuries after what she called the alleged assassination attempt against him during a Pennsylvania rally last year. Okay, so the alleged the word alleged is in quotations and what do you mean? You know nothing about it. Where have you been hiding under a rock, joy? Have you not read? Have you not listened to the news or heard the news when it all happened? And let's see, there was a man killed in the stands. So what was that about? And there was also the shooter who was killed. What was that? Was that fake was so they just killed a innocent person. What and she is still under the delusion I think that he was hit by glass. This lady I feel a video coming on to respond to her case, her nut job brain case. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1:

Reid questioned Trump's injuries just days after the shooting, suggesting that he was hit by glass instead of a bullet. Morning Report delivers okay. I have many questions like where are the medical reports? What caused Trump's injuries and what was the injury? Shrapnel Glass, a bullet? Where were the three attendees who were shot, seated or standing relative to Trump? Why was Trump allowed to stand and pose for photos?

Speaker 1:

Oh, come on, fist pumping for nearly 10 seconds while asking about his shoe, when there could easily have been additional shooters. Come on, how did the gunman manage to get on the roof of the building where the local police were literally inside? Well, we're all asking that too, joy, but she doesn't think he was. She is still on a kick about that. I don't know if I may not even do a video about her. She's just insignificant. She's just trying to get her face in front of the news again by bringing this up again.

Speaker 1:

All right, I need to go. I have gone over. We need a question of the day. Okay, the question is how much weight do you think you could deadlift right now? How much weight do you think you could deadlift right now?

Speaker 1:

Now, a long time ago, my personal record for deadlift, when I was in active and CrossFit all the time it was, believe it or not, 255. There's no way I could do that right now. No way Did I say 255? Yeah, it was 255. I have to go back and look. I believe it was 255 or 215. I don't know. It was over 200 pounds. I know that it was over my body weight at the time. Now, though, I think maybe I could deadlift my body weight. It would be maybe a shot. I think I could do it, though I think I could. My body weight I'll go ahead and tell you what it is right now 170. Oh my gosh, I know, I know, I know, but I have muscle. I have a lot of muscle on me. Okay, I know I could lose some weight and I'm working on it. All right, I'm working on it. But yeah, all right, I got to go. Thanks for listening. Bye.
